1. Introduction

The Treatment ability is one of the most crucial skills in the game for all professions, except Shades, and maxing it whenever possible is highly recommended. At lower levels, it's easy to acquire a high treatment rating and the limiting factor will be mainly the Attribute requirements for the equipping of symbiants/implants. Once you hit TL5, however, the treatment requirements become a lot more difficult to manage, particularly with the breed caps in effect by this point and the early title caps: it only gets worse from here on until endgame. It's a good idea to get into the habit of hoarding any +treatment items you come across and to keep ahold of any +treatment implants you find or make, for these reasons.

The ability itself is 50% Intelligence, 30% Agility and 20% Sense based. This is important to note for the purposes of trickledown from items/implants/buffs that boost base attributes. Sometimes it's worth equipping something that will give you high attribute boosts over low treatment boosts simply because the trickle will give a greater treatment benefit in the end. It's also worth noting that partial points of treatment from trickle-down are rounded down and ignored by AO, but it can all add up if you have several items that give a trickle - the end result might be a surprise extra point or two of treatment.

It's always recommended that you plan out how much treatment you need to find after your base skill level before you start to unequip gear and reset perks to save wasting time. It's also advisable to check if you honestly need Superior First Aid: a small buff may be easier to find from lower level doctors or adventurers if you only need a few extra points, rather than hunting down a higher level Doctor.

This guide will only deal with Equipment, Perks and Research and not any of the nanos that contribute to your treatment. For that please have a look at the Buffing Guide.

-

7. Implants

In addition to using armor, nanos and utilities to buff your treatment, it is also possible to buff it with implants. Of course this means that the spots that buffs treatment (Head, Eye and Right Hand) will have a lower QL than the rest of your implants. In addition, for a bit of trickledown you can also choose to temporarily equip implants which buffs Intelligence, Agility and Sense.

I would recommend using a thirdparty implant designer to figure out the requirements needed. Personally I would recommend ImplantHelper.

This table shows which implant spots buffs Treatment, as well as which spots buffs the Attributes that can trickle into Treatment.

Cluster Overview
Eyes
Bright: Treatment
Head
Shining: Treatment
Faded: Sense
Ears
Faded: Intelligence
Right Arm
N/A
Chest
Shining: Sense
Left Arm
N/A
Right Wrist
N/A
Waist
Bright: Sense
Faded: Agility
Left Wrist
N/A
Right Hand
Faded: Treatment
Legs
Shining: Agility
Left Hand
N/A
Feet
Bright: Agility

It is important to note that Symbiants contain Treatment and usually some attribute boosts for trickle. This needs to be taken into consideration when caluclating how much treatment an implant can buff by, as it's unlikely that you will use a symbiant to buff treatment with when a higher rating can be gained from implants/refined implants.
