On Rubi-Ka, you'll encounter a variety of vehicles. While some are a common sight, others are rarer, perhaps due to their speed or general appeal. This guide will introduce you to the ground, air and water vehicles available in Anarchy Online, including some that serve as a status symbol, indicating significant character progression.Faction: All Factions

Ground Vehicles"Ground vehicles generally offer the most affordable transportation option for players. Common models include the Turbo Kodiak IX, The Mid, and Manta which are available from around QL 25 up to QL 100+.
For a free ground yalm that functions as a Nano instead of an equipped item, complete the optional quest on Arete given by The Shady Guy.
Prices typically range from approximately 30,000 credits for basic models up to 350,000 credits or more for higher quality ones (though the most expensive aren't always recommended). Even an entry-level vehicle can be a significant investment for a lower-level player. Be aware that all vehicles are NoDrop, meaning they cannot be traded or sold back.
While operating a ground vehicle, your Run Speed skill will be significantly boosted. However, you typically cannot attack and you won't be able to cast any Nano-Formulas(we will get to this later), making you more vulnerable. Despite this, a well-chosen vehicle can often outrun most low-level mobs. Players can still be attacked and killed while in a vehicle, so remain cautious when driving outside of safe zones. An advantage is that you can remain seated and use medical supplies while in your car.

How to Use Your Ground Vehicle"To equip your vehicle, pick it up from your inventory (not bank) and place it into the HUD1 slot within the 'Wear' section of your character's equipment tab. It takes approximately 10-15 seconds to equip, after which your character model will be replaced by the vehicle. Note that operating any vehicle (ground, air, or water) will not change your GUI or control scheme.
Alternatively, some ground vehicles, like the Kodiak mentioned earlier, are Nano-based. These are "uploaded" like a Nano-Program and must be cast. They will occupy an NCU slot, and you'll need to cancel the Nano effect to exit the vehicle.
Operating ground vehicles requires the Vehicle Ground skill, typically at least 100+ points. This skill can be found at the bottom of the Navigation section in your skills menu."
Before the Notum Wars expansion, a rare vehicle known as the Omni-Tek Gunship could be found. This vehicle, usable only by Omni-Tek players, moved along the ground (though Metaphysicists could activate Quantum Wings for flight). It required both Vehicle Ground and Ranged Energy skills, as it also functioned as a weapon. At the time, it was the only vehicle that allowed players to attack while operating it. This rare vehicle can still occasionally be found in mission chests & from Collector Gold Boxes!
Kodaik Turbo IX
The slightly faster of the two models (comparing them at the same QL).

The Mid
The Mid model offers increased Concealment and has a transparent appearance, which can sometimes make you look like a floating ghost to other players. In addition to Vehicle Ground skill, it also requires the Perception skill to operate.

Manta Vehicles"For ground vehicles that support combat, consider the Manta line, available at Enterprise & Tower shops across Rubi-Ka. These vehicles come in various QLs and three distinct models ('flavors'). They offer full combat capabilities while in use, but each model applies a specific debuff. If you also meet the vehicle's Heavy Weapon skill requirement, it can be used as an additional attack!

Air VehiclesThe Yalmaha, commonly known as a "Yalm," is considered by many to be the ultimate way to traverse Rubi-Ka. Acquiring one is often a sign of significant character progression.
Let's talk about the price. If you found ground vehicles expensive, Yalms are a whole new level. The cheapest Yalmaha starts at around 5 million credits, with higher QL versions reaching 7-10 million. Your Computer Literacy skill can help reduce the base price, offering approximately a 1% discount for every 40 skill points. For most players, even with discounts, this is a substantial investment, requiring dedicated credit saving. However, its utility often makes it worthwhile.
You can identify a low QL Yalm (the most affordable kind) by its Air Vehicle skill requirement of 80-90. If your trade window is in List Mode, you'll see the lowest QL available is 30.
The lowest QL Yalmaha (QL 30) is consistently available in "Enterprise" & "Tower" shops across Rubi-Ka, including locations like ICC, Old Athens, and Borealis.

It's generally recommended not to invest IP into the Vehicle Air skill until you've acquired a Yalm. While operating a Yalm, your Run Speed is significantly boosted, but you cannot execute any Nano-Formulas. This means you'll still be vulnerable to attacks. However, unlike ground vehicles, Yalms offer a critical advantage: the ability to fly high above the ground, allowing you to bypass most mobs entirely. This aerial freedom is the primary reason for their popularity, enabling safe travel across almost any part of Rubi-Ka. You cannot sit while in a Yalm, but you can still use medical supplies that don't require a sitting posture.

How to Use Your Air VehicleEquipping a Yalm is similar to a ground vehicle: pick it up from your inventory (not bank) and place it into the HUD1 slot in the 'Wear' section of your equipment tab. Wearable Yalms have a swift 0.5-second equip time, after which your character model transforms into the Yalm.
To pilot your Yalm, hold down the right mouse button; moving the mouse will adjust the Yalm's nose. Pointing it upwards and moving forward will increase your altitude, letting you ascend into the sky!
*Note: In the early days of Anarchy Online, there was no altitude limit, allowing players to fly so high they could soar above the clouds and even see stars! Also, it was once possible to enter vehicles inside buildings and missions, but these functionalities have since been removed.*
Your first flight in a Yalm is often an awesome and highly gratifying experience – it's something I can almost guarantee for any new Yalm owner. Beyond mouse controls, you can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard for maneuvering.
There's been a long-standing debate among players about how a Yalm's speed truly scales with its QL and the player's Run Speed. From personal experience, most Yalms (regardless of QL) seem to move at a similar base speed. The primary factor influencing overall speed appears to be the player's own Run Speed stat. For instance, as a level 215+ character, I can outrun a lower-level player using the exact same low QL Yalm because my character's inherent Run Speed is significantly higher.

Water VehiclesYou'll rarely see water vehicles on Rubi-Ka. Known as "Hydros," these vehicles used to boost your Swimming skill, similar to how ground and air vehicles enhance your Run Speed. With the rebalance patch removing the Swimming Skill these items now reduce Run Speed by -1000.
While in a Hydro, you can't perform combat actions like attacking or casting Nano-Formulas. This means you remain vulnerable. However, Hydros used to offer a unique advantage over ground and air vehicles.. With the rebalance changes and the removal of the Swimming Skill.. You are just as slow on land as you are on water. These are just for show really.
