Has anyone come across a planetary map that has enough detail to show the roads? Or at least the major roads?
I understand there are often easier ways to travel (Woompa, the Grid, w/ an Engineer via warp), but in a pinch, it would be nice to know the layout of the roads.
Or is this something else that shows up on the existing planetary maps after you have x-amount of Navigation skill?

in-game local maps (each zone) will sometimes reveal a few roads, but not always.
in-game planet maps details areas, mobs, notum fields, grid points, etc but not roads.
Sorry, it's just that when it comes to mapping there isn't that much room for placing ground roads, that and also the fact that making such a map would mean increasing the size of the map itself to show the roads in detail....and that would be a gigantic job, even for Funcom's artists and devs....time they can use elsewhere.

Go to
http://travel.to/rubi-ka, download the hugemap from there for your client, install it according to the install instructions and have one of the best maps (IMO) ingame.
Secondly, get implants which add to map nav, put them in and get all the maps and map upgrades you can install at the pushed up map nav level. You can switch back to your normal implants then without loosing the uploaded maps and map updates (especially latter ones are important at least up to "monster", which needs 130 map nav skill).

Like Sferykal says, hugemap for the win. It has enough detail to show roads.
Map reader upgrades only affect the small-scale map, not the planetary one, and they don't bring additional large terrain features such as roads into view, just mobs, terminals & doors, and PCs/NPCs. The hugemap download is all you need.

Does having a higher MAPNAV actualy bring up more detail on the PF Maps? It says it does but noone ever does it because MAPNAV is the only skill you can't reset...

No, and I try not to raise it at all. Either with trickle down and implants or just anything but spending IP on Map Navi since all IP is precious when you get in those tight times
Imatroxdoc, 188/12 Atrox Doctor, Omni, Squad Commander of Band of Little Brothers
Ruffixx, 136/13 Opifex Fixer, Omni, Unit Member of Obsidian Order
Former account open for now:

Thanks for the tips; I'd seen that page and the hugemap reference, but didn't know if it added any detail (i.e., bigger isn't always better).
It wouldn't be that hard to make the major roads minimally visible on the smaller world maps (increasing the size wouldn't be necessary), but I assume it's not a priority to cater to n00bs/fr00bs who will soon outgrow the need for roads at all...
Also, apologies for posting this here -- probably should have gone in the General Discussion area.
