Borealis to the Longest Road/Foreman's Office

Post by OlowNon » Thu Nov 17, 2005 8:43 pm

I'm trying to complete one of the "Good Time Party Mixer's" quests, which requires me to go to the Longest Road, at or near the Foreman's Office. I tried to go cross-country from Bliss, but got chased by a bunch of high level mobs and was killed by some sort of life sucker. I'm now back at Borealis.

I'm 23rd level, but am not sure if I can or should use the grid at this stage (which would get me close to my destination).

Thoughts or suggestions?

Note: I was given a map of the Longest Road, but it requires a 140 in map reading, which I can't even access yet. Is there some sort of super-map buff I should know about?

only thing would be to use imps for Map navig, not sure if you can get 140 yet though. Even if you raise it its nice for map upgrades, you can see mobs, players etc.
If you got 80+ Comp lit no pob using grid, just fyi some exits need more than 80 Comp lit.

Edit: Hope this helps :)

That does help, but I apparently mis-read the map; there's no grid exit near the Foreman's Office.

I'm attempting the 2nd mission on the Living Cyber Armor (Body) quest, which the Stratics page indicates should be near the Bliss Woompa. Unfortunately, for me it's been placed way out at the Foreman's Office.

Is the this just bad luck, or is the Stratics page out of date? If I fail to complete the 2nd mission and try to re-do the quest, what are the chances that the 2nd mission will appear again at the Foreman's Office?

Thanks for the offer of help Jorgzen. I did send you a tell, but you were off-line. After another failed attempt, I finally managed to get to the Omni Mining Facility in one piece, complete my little mission, and return to Athen safely.

I figured out that I was making two mistakes:

1. The first time I strayed from the road. Dumb. The road is obviously safer.

2. I was sometimes tabbing/targetting mobs to see what they were (and how tough they were). Oops. It seems this prompts some of them (mainly the nasty high-level ones) to attack. Duh. I should have known better.

It also helped that I was finally able to lock the run feature (hold forward key, depress and hold alt key, release forward key, release alt key). Easy for some I'm sure, but it took me a while even after reading Funcom's Using the keyboard page.

All's well that ends well. Maybe someone will learn something from my mistakes.

And by the way, thanks to AO Universe for having such a nice forum!

There's an easier way to autorun forward: 0 on the numeric keypad. It's even mentioned on that page.

I didn't even know there was a more general but trickier way to lock on movement in any of the four straight directions. I doubt I'll ever use it, either. :)

I had trouble getting the numeric keypad to work properly (this is an issue for zooming and unzooming the camera too), which is why I tried the more complex approach. Maybe it's my keyboard...

Try holding down 'w' and hitting enter, letting go of 'w' and hitting enter again.

Worked for me on a laptop with no keypad and sounds a lot easier than using the alt key.. which most fingers aren't used to hitting very often. :)

OlowNon, the easiest way for you to get to 'wherever' you want to go is to get an Engi friend to warp you there...!

They go there while teamed with you then just warp you to them... Have fun.
