AO is the main topic, but you can also talk about things like the latest console game you've played, web comics, movies, music, etc. as they pertain to your AO experience.

Save those credits. At level 8 you don't really need any of them. But soon there will be time when you'll have to buy nanos, weapons, armor and implants. Most of those you can blitz (even if higher ql than you), but credits can save you some time/effort. You'll also get a feeling about prices, thus lowering chances of closing bad deal.
Oh, only thing you should buy is Med suit...with some patience you can catch peeps that are selling full suits for ca 30-50k.

Here's a tip that saved me from totally gimping (= make weak) my characters: Look for a friendly org with low/medium/high level players and ask a fellow soldier to help you get started.
Also, have a look in the Profession's forum at the official AO site (if you have any of the expansions) or on AOFroobs (if you're a free player, like me. They call us Froobs. Go figure huh?).
Enjoy the game!

Tepamina, one of our researchers on AOU, has written a fantastic soldier guide. You can find part one
here. Maybe after reading that you will have a better idea of what items/equipment you think would be a good idea and then you will have a better knowledge of where and how to spend your credits.

Fr00b=Free n00b... lol, I started out that way myself.
200k is nice for your first character (char) but trust me, it's not a lot of money!
You will be needing Implants, Nanos & Armour.
These are gonna eat that 200k fast, which server are you on by the way?
(Being in OA means you picked the right side at least! lol)

Don't make me come in there and Moderate you!

Yeah, save em.
Buy a decent assault rifle that'll see you through, the best implants you can handle, and just stash the rest and 'forget' about it...You'll -really- need it later. And remember, you can always roll for better armor and whatnot via clicksaver and missions.
