A Major annoyance (BUG)

AO is the main topic, but you can also talk about things like the latest console game you've played, web comics, movies, music, etc. as they pertain to your AO experience.

A Major annoyance (BUG)

Post by Stevieb » Thu Jun 26, 2008 1:31 pm

every one has had it (probably) where you log and the gui setup and preference changes you made during you last time playing havent saved...im sure that im just one of the peple that arent clever enough to suss it out, but how do i get rid of this annoying bug, other than having to delete the specific char file in 'prefs' and redo from start?
is it soemthing to do with maximum logged info in the char file or something? or how do i get rid of it, please tell me, cos it is mega mega annoying...

I have only ever had this on new characters, when I make a character I log out when I get to the island / jobe so I can "set" my settings.

Hope someone can help you with this one. Sorry I have no idea.

If you crash out of the game or lose connection, NOTHING is saved...

Last toon I played, it stopped doing it after I reached lvl 10. It seemed any level before that nothing was saved

How are you exiting the game? Pressing alt+f4 twice quick (rapid exit) will not save your prefs.

no i exit the game properly every single time, and in the past when i have quickly left it sometimes does save, but thats besdies the point, yes i do /camp when i leave the game, and it just seems that all of my toons have adopted the 'lack of pref saving'

only time i've ever had it not save is due to crash, use of /quit or closed AO down too fast (aka shut down the client before it had full logged itself out).

I'd check to make sure your computers allowing the AO file to be writeable and such, might have changed with a windows update or something

I have only had this happen with new toons, and only one new toon not happen, well it did, but i had logged in the toon but not level the toon. after a while the pref stayed . Now for the rest, I always had to be post lvl 10. I could not say if it is level related or time in game.
so you log out normally ? and your still not getting any saved pref's . . that is weird :?

ok woohoo with help from my computer literate sister ;) iv sussed that yes its to do with the anarchy file being 'read-only' rather than not, so...
if u find this problem, get the properties of the anarchy online folder up, make it so that the attributes are not 'read-only' then it should be ok :)
