OpenGL support?

OpenGL support?

is there any way to get it works? i have GeForce2 MX 400 64 MB but there is no OpenGL

for me AO works crap on direct ;/

I'm interested in this too, I have a brand new fast computer & I'm having some wierd graphic glitches when I log an account on, colours & textures in all directions!!!

OpenGL is something completely different to Direct3D. To the degree that most applications are written to run on one or the other. As far as I know, the same holds true for AO. It's purely a DirectX/Direct3D application.

Direct3D is a part of DirectX (3D graphics). DirectX also contains sound- and various other game related APIs.

well i just want to say that opengl is a little faster, when i launched UnrealTournament there were options like: Direct3D, OpenGL etc.. and i always get a reason to select opengl, couse direct = 10 fps on my PC ;p
my PC cant hangle direct games well so i want to play AO in OpenGL

So what's the difference between the 2 direct ones???

I'd assume AO won't come with OpenGL support when the new engine comes out either. Correct me if i'm wrong, but AO's current engine is not optimized for graphic cards at all, it gets mostly rendered through CPU. Even with the new engine, i doubt they will code a support for both, D3D and OpenGL.
Beside, most new games don't come with OpenGL support but D3D for compatibility with all the new console stuff... and i remember well when 3DFX had their own version of OpenGL, Glide. That rocked ass, but heh, 3DFX was eaten by Nvidia.

If you reduce the graphic stuff from AO the game might run better (especially view distance) - looks crap outdoors, but doesn't matter indoor.

Sorry for the late answer, but what the heck, it might help out someone else who's reading this.

You should select the Direct3D T&L HAL (not the one without T&L), that should boost your performance a bit...

T&L stands for Transform & Lightning.
