Community - Pledgie has shut down

Post by Khuri » Sun Feb 11, 2018 3:49 pm

Unfortunately the owners of Pledgie.com have decided to close down their services without any prior notice to campaign owners.

I'm grateful to all of you who dontated to our campaign and that the server costs for 2018 have been covered. Sadly with the immediate removal of all campaigns on Pledgie, I can't copy the list of names of those who donated.
Since most have been done as anonymous donations I can't just use the actual transaction names either.

So for those of you who donated, a big "thank you" to you! :)

When 2019 comes we'll think of something else.

Pledgie was a facility whereby people could give donations to 'causes' that were put up.

It seems strange that they'd shut down like this. Do we think it was some form of attack?

As Snakebite explained, it's been sort of a "crowdfunding" website for projects. However, unlike some other pages that deal with crowdfunding as service that I had looked at, it let you create simple projects without requiring incentives or specifc goals and such.

As for what it has been used can be read here :)

I've already found an alternative provider for such services, will see when to put it up.

As to the reason why Pledgie was shut down, you can read their message on their website:

The way they've worded that 'can't be created or edited' makes it sound like those that are still up can be used...
