Patch - Server Merge 2.26.2013

Post by Silvana » Tue Feb 26, 2013 12:47 am

SERVERS ARE UP!

As a reply to this original post, there is another with an information dump to try and get answers together and information that players will need and/or want to know but aren't able to find. If you would like to see something added to the list, have information about a 3rd party tool that has been updated already for the changes, or if you find a piece of information to be incorrect, please send me a PM and I will get it taken care of.

You can view the link dump by clicking the link at the bottom of this news post, or by clicking HERE for a direct link.

The time for the server merge is upon us. If you still have a froob player as your org leader, you need to fix this immediately. This was stated a while ago and I doubt anything will be done if you didn't get around to it and lose things.

Aside from that, I think all we can do is cross our fingers as we don't have any kind of checklist for anything else we should have done on the client end to ensure characters transfer properly.

A lot of things have been left unclear as to how this will all work, so your best bet is to log in any characters that you have listed as "inactive" if you want to have a chance to keep your name. The criteria were never officially stated, but the suggestion is characters with earlier creation dates, that are active, more play time, and paid vs froob all factor in when it comes to which character keeps their name, and which doesn't.

Basically, make sure you do all that you can if you are worried about losing a name.

The merge will bring the servers down for an estimated 24 hours beginning at 2am PST, 5am EST, 10am GMT tomorrow, the 26th of February.

We'll keep you up to date as more information is presented.

Good luck to everyone :)

I'm going to use this space for keeping track of information that you may be looking for. Check back as new things will be added over the course of a few days as new fixes for problems arise, or important questions are answered.

For the time being, do not attempt to install any custom GUI's downloaded from AOU once you have patched your client. As GUI's are fixed, they will be listed BELOW. This is for your safety and sanity! Currently the AOU Mod and Notum Novvetech GUI are fixed, with appropriate links below.

VhaBot users of version 0.7.6 through 0.7.9 can try using my updated AoLib.dll which can be downloaded here:

https://bitbucket.org/Llie/llie_vhabot/ ... _0.7.9.zip

Or if they're brave enough to upgrade to my fork of VhaBot:

https://bitbucket.org/Llie/llie_vhabot/ ... E_mono.zip

Vhab has released a new version of the main VhaBot fork. The only change is to support the server merge.

Any mention of the patch on FTP? The client doesn't seem to like patching :-p

This doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere else, but if you lost your name as part of the merge, when you log on, you will get a name based on your internal ID (something like: "R1234567890123").

FC has provided a one time automated name change for each character that lost their name. Use the following in-game command:

/name nick yournewname

If the name you chose violates FC's naming policy or someone else already has that name, both cases will get you the same error message, saying that the name you chose violates FC's naming policy. If the name you chose is available, you will get a message that says to log out and after 5 minutes you will be given the new name.

If you are not 100% satisfied with the name you chose DO NOT LOG OFF. You can continue to use the "/name nick" command until you're happy. Once you log off, you will be given the new name, and that name is yours. To change your name again, you will have to buy a paid service to have your name changed.

Looks like it's on the FTP:

ftp://download.anarchy-online.com/patch ... 18.6.0.exe
ftp://download.anarchy-online.com/patch ... .0_EP1.exe

I've never tried patching this way before. Hopefully you know what you're supposed to do with those two binaries.

I think it would be just one or the other. EP1 for Subscribers, and the other for froob.

List still being updated.

If I miss things here and there let me know. The official forum is so inundated with new threads it is easy to miss relevant information.

Found a problem in my 0.7.11_LE fork of VhaBot. I put "Rubi-Ka" as the new dimension name everywhere. It should be "RubiKa" (no dash). None of the functions that related to getting user information (Org roster, Whois, Online, etc...) would work. I've fixed it and put up a fresh zip file for 0.7.11_LE.

Not sure if my hacky AoLib fix works for anyone. It's been downloaded about half-dozen times, but haven't heard if it works. If anyone knows, please pass it along to me. (Because if it doesn't work, I should take it down to prevent confusing people.)
