Sys Requirements

AO is the main topic, but you can also talk about things like the latest console game you've played, web comics, movies, music, etc. as they pertain to your AO experience.

Sys Requirements

Post by FLiP » Wed Mar 12, 2008 11:08 pm

Hi, I read the system requirements on the support page, but just looking at the screenshots and reading about AO it seems a bit misleading. I haven't played this before so I don't really know anything about it, was going to try it out though. I was wondering if anyone has anything like my system specs below and/or knows if the game would run smoothly on it.

My old heap:
Win XP
P3 600MHz
Intel 82810 Chipset stock gfx card 32MB(wow? thought it was lower)
16 bit colors
384MBs RAM
Likes: Strange old drivers, Porn, Starsiege: Tribes
Dislikes: Games that require 32 bit colors, Old DOS Games

I believe very few players have computers that are able to run AO smoothly. Game mostly runs on ram and HD, so best results have those with 4G ram and raptors/solid state discs.

It used to run more or less smoothly on such specs, but there were some graphic tweaks, so I can't really claim one way or the other.

But since you can play for free, I suggest you simply download game and try it out yourself (you'll probably have to minimize view distance and turn off some effects). If you'll (still) have problems, you can also try to instal game on USB key and try runing it from there.

I'm fairly certain that AO will run on your computer, especially if you stick to RK.
