AO is the main topic, but you can also talk about things like the latest console game you've played, web comics, movies, music, etc. as they pertain to your AO experience.

Hello guys
Yesterday I registered and installed the Free-client of AO and played around for awhile and It seems to be quite entertaining.
After reading here on the forum I understand I'm a Fr00b atm

Are Fr00bs looked down upon or are we as accepted as the paying customers? Can I join guilds as a fr00b?
I'm still at the beach hunting and doing the missions, at what level can I leave the starterzone? and can I join PvP directly?
I have alot of questions, but I won't bore you anylonger

Hi Ogge and welcome to AO
I usually stay on the island untill level 7-8.
Sadly, there are a few that look down on froobs, but not many, and yes you can join orgs as a froob

Max level you can remain in ICC island is 18. But mostly leave before that, usually as soon as they manage to get what they want.
If I assume right, this is your first character. I'd suggest you grab some upgraded weapon, maybe some Newcomer's armor as well as Salamander vest. Rest is just bonus, more suited for those that already know what they are aiming for at higher levels. (You have probably read elsewhere already that AO has steep learning curve. So don't be afraid to make mistake, as long as you learn from them. Most of first characters are abondoned later on.)
And like Gimpeline said, you get all kinds of folks playing AO. Most dont care if you have expansions or not, others make fuss over it. Just ignore the other kind and enjoy the game. And don't be afraid to ask questions, either on open forums or in-game ( and no, /terminate or 2xalt+F4 won't solve any problem).

I wouldn't say that fr00bs are 'accepted' but they're not shunned either lol.

Anyone who looks down on fr00bs is worthy of naught but an /ignore, and certainly not of your time.
Best of luck to you

Hello again
Thanks for the answers, I'm now lvl 9 and going strong

I have a new question.
How can I see the stats of an item? (other then testing wearing it)

shift+left click item
Some orgs require their members to have expansions, so they all can participate in raids and events, but not all orgs require this, mostly it applies to high level orgs.

Does PvP give xp? or is leveling on monsters the only option?

RK1=Atlantean
RK2=Rimor
The servers were named RK1/RK2 for years, I think they were named about 2yrs ago or so.

Back to this question then.
Seeing that everyone else is lvl 200+ (well not everyone) When can I join the war between clan and omni?

There's not only high lvl Tower Sites, there are low ones too, look around for Orgs that indulge in PvP, most of the larger ones have baby Orgs attatched to them that are either made up of 'twinks' or are specificaly for lower lvl PvP...

after the island you gotta choose between being omni clan or neutral
if clan you got to West Athen (WA) city if omni you go to Rome and if neutral you go to Borlias (Bor)
choose your side carefully and talk to the guy representing that side at the control tower(outsdie beside brandon thorn area)
ps: omni and clan got token board which gives extra points to your skills each time you upgrade it neutrals don't give that (though you can buy later on the game token boards neutral clan or omni)
GL:) and take care
