Tradeskills - why isn't there a database for AO?

AO is the main topic, but you can also talk about things like the latest console game you've played, web comics, movies, music, etc. as they pertain to your AO experience.

Tradeskills - why isn't there a database for AO?

Post by Chebri » Mon Feb 13, 2006 3:31 am

Greetings!

I've noticed that, even after several years, there is still not a database of all the tradeskill items and where they are used. I know that there are some wonderful guides out there and Funcom labeled some items as "tradeskill" when AI came out. Recipebot is a great effort at an in-game tradeskill database but there are still things missing.

I suppose that's one of the things that makes the game a challenge. I did find a list of items in game. There are some 38k items. I'll be fiddling with it a bit. ;-)

Best,

We aim to create as comprehensive a list as possible for Tradeskills, if there's some we don't have, tell us ^^ It's getting bigger all the time.

Database fo tradeskills is problematic, since the way tradeskills work.Take for instance one of weapons build with help of recepies from shop. Those take 5-14 items to assemble. But the trick is, that regarding to ql of finished weapon, they have different names and game engine treat them as different tradeskills. On top of that there are over 3k unique tradeskills + 6k nano creactions + countles implant creations + pocket bosses creation. Players (including me) have tryed to create such a database, but it's just too masive task. On top of that, if such database would be in existance, it would be a pain to keep it updated, since FC can change procedures, add half finished processes etc..

Good point Trgeorge. It would be a tremendous undertaking.

I'm open for ideas and willing to do what I can to help.
