There's no subtle way to tell, as far as I know, but if you try to team someone who has you on ignore the refusal will be automatic and immediate. A couple of quick join team requests and refusals should make it obvious.

Try holding down 'w' and hitting enter, letting go of 'w' and hitting enter again.

Worked for me on a laptop with no keypad and sounds a lot easier than using the alt key.. which most fingers aren't used to hitting very often.

So a crat, NT or trader might be a good character for you to start up to make money with on RK.

I think as a free account player your best bet for making money is by selling junk to shops instead of players, for now. I'd advise you to save all your monster parts, have a doc convert them to plasma, then have a trader sell them to the trader shop for you. If that's too much trouble/socializing, ...
