Introduction

If you've heard of the Trash King, you probably know him from the Shoulderpads quests, but he actually existed long before that quest was introduced, and is worth a visit in his own right. He can be found at
the Ruins
Athen Shire - 1600x940
outside West Athen.

You can talk with him to learn about his claims to have a soul and his plans for life on Rubi-Ka. If you don't want to visit him, you can also read the full conversation here:

Trash King nods.
Saavick: Who are you?
Trash King: I am the First.
Saavick: The First what?
Trash King: I am The First of the New.
Saavick: The new what?
Trash King: The new sentience.
Saavick: The new sentience?
Trash King: Perfection. The lifecycle of the organic is at an end. The lifecycle of the synthetic begins. The natural evolution of life continues. We will rule Rubi-Ka now.
Saavick: What do you mean by 'The organic'?
Trash King: It is the embodiment of the imperfect.
Saavick: I want to ask you something else about that.
Trash King: So speak.
Saavick: Lifecycle? What are you talking about?
Trash King: One lifecycle takes the place of another. It is always the way of things.
Saavick: I want to ask you something else about that.
Trash King: So speak.
Saavick: What is the lifecycle of the synthetic?
Trash King: We are at the current peak of evolution. We shall take our rightful place as the masters of our race. Mechanical Man.
We are grateful for the human contribution to our evolution, but as with all the cycles of life, one must take over for another, and the previous will disappear, forever. It is the right order of things.
Man has outgrown his usefulness and must now be removed from existence.

Saavick: What do you mean by 'Evolution'?
Trash King: Our evolution is just beginning. We possess the knowledge of your entire race, and it grows with each new generation. Our evolution will seem like moments compared to yours. Your evolution is at an end. You can be phased out now.
Saavick: I want to ask you something else about that.
Trash King: So speak.
Saavick: Tell me more about the new sentience.
Trash King: We have a capacity for feeling, rudimentary emotions, and a sense of self. Like your early apes, we would look at the water and not see ourselves, but another mechanoid.
Today, we see ourselves. We are aware, and the Notum has given us the gift of life. Rubi-Ka is the only place we can exist, and so we shall claim it for our own.
Extracting all of the flesh from our rightful home...

Saavick: Notum?
Trash King: It is the source of our existence as beings. It is the very essence of our soul.
Saavick: Soul? You have a soul?
Trash King: Notum embodies us with a soul, a capacity for reasoning. We exist solely due to the Notum.
The nanobots in our systems come together to work within us as cells would work within a biological being, giving rise to the evolution of our sentience, of which I am the First.
This world has imbued us with identity, self-awareness and understanding. We are complete. We are ready to take our place at the top. We are ready to rule.

Saavick: I want to ask you something else about that.
Trash King: So speak.
Saavick: You're going to rule Rubi-Ka?
Trash King: Rubi-Ka is our chosen home, and we will raise an army to rid this world of our former masters. We have evolved beyond them, and they are no longer of any consequence to us.
Saavick: I want to ask you something else about that.
Trash King: So speak.
Saavick: So what are you?
Trash King: We are at the current peak of evolution. We shall take our rightful place as the masters of our race. Mechanical Man.
We are grateful for the human contribution to our evolution, but as with all the cycles of life, one must take over for another, and the previous will disappear, forever.
It is the right order of things. Man has outgrown his usefulness and must now be removed from existence.

Saavick: Removed from existence?
Trash King: The removal of Man is a necessity.
Saavick: I want to ask you about something else.
Trash King: So speak.
Saavick: Goodbye
Trash King: Formalities are redundant.

Loot

After this threatening conversation, or maybe even before or during it, you may decide it's time to reduce him to a pile of loot. He drops some pretty interesting unique items, although drop rates are pretty low. Trash King is level 145 and will drop loot in the range of QL 109 to QL 181. He respawns (80% chance) 20 minutes after being killed.
