Community - AOU Mod Sneak Peek!

Post by Windguaerd » Fri Mar 27, 2009 11:08 am

Well people, March 7th I made a virtual challenge to SceneGG to make the most awesome AO GUI skin ever. He slapped me twice, and accepted the challenge. 3 days later, the project began, and it took a life of it's own. What started as a GUI skin now has become an AOU Mod. A brand new (different than anything ever seen before) AO GUI, new help files including the popular AriensGUI, 2 voicepacks and hopefully the best AO maps around (we're still working on that part).

We're currently in Version 0.9.1.5 and still going strong, pushing the boundaries of what the client allows us to do with it, without overriding any core files so when patching is done, nobody gets any crazy error codes.

A lot has been done in the past couple of weeks and we're now going to release a sneak peek at the AOU Mod, this is not a final version, this is in BETA stage and we're looking for feedback. Also there will be a slimline version which will be more compact.

Check out all 32 Sneak Peek images at our Gallery: http://www.ao-universe.com/main.php?site=gallery&id=55

No, not a lot of work, you will have to unpack the files, replace one image and repack it again :)

You can unpack and repack easily with this tool:
AOUI
(it's old webpage was down, so I am re-hosting it, the tool is not my work)

Kind Regards

Strange, the first line in the .UVGI says:
GUIGFX.UVGI 1.0 Generated by AO-Skintool v2.4

Which you can get here:
http://www.gridstream.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5217
It has a lot of extra features, for making maps also, if you are interested in that.
It also might make your image files smaller, without any quality loss. (OptiPNG)

Kind Regards

Awesome GUI!

I can't wait to use it!

Edit: You mentioned you're looking for feedback. I would happily beta-test your mod if you would consider letting me.
