Xan Booster Pack

Post by Windguaerd » Sun Feb 08, 2009 8:31 am

With what you currently know from AO Game Director Means (Friday with Means), are you considering buying the booster pack?

I'm not sure yet wether it will be fun, but we'll probably be buying it regardless. :)

That whole "Mitaar Hero" theme seems a bit silly in my eyes, could be interesting though. Maybe it really is another step away from simple slaughtering of green things, and towards solving little riddles.

Simply put, yes, I will be getting it, considering how much I play this game it would be pointless not to get it, even if it's actualy fairly pants...

(& Means says there will be something nice for preorder ^^)

Short Answer: Yes.

Long Answer: Yes, but I'm put off by the fact that it is entirely aimed at endgame 215s-220s. I am an altoholic and seeing absolutely no benefit to my low level chars (my 150 sec10 doc, my 150 sec10 enf, my 165 pvp twink, my 74 mp twink, my other leveling characters and random "ooh i'll log that char for fun again" chars) is a sad sight.

I get that the idea is: We aren't getting new players. So let's make content to keep our endgame players.

Sure, I'll agree that at least 90% of all subscribing AO players have an endgame character or two at least.. However, that presumes that 100% of all those subscribers only play their endgame character and does not have any lower characters.

I will semi-quote what someone said on the AO forums once:
Make the game wider, not longer.

Making the endgame grind longer, imo, is not going to attract new players at all. In fact it is sure to be offputting.

SO yah... I'll get it, but dammit I'm not going to like it!!! :D

hell yeah I'm getting it... I want to slap in those Xan Control symbs with Burst into my pistol MP and see him do some serious DD :P

... oh and I also like to solo quite a bit, so the new solo content is right up my street

I'd like another option in that poll:
"No, can't afford to..."

I'll probably get it, but I agree that it would be better if it wasn't aimed that much at endgame only

I think you'll get those even without buying the booster.
