Somphos Brunee have been somewhat rare in the area around the Shunpike stone every time I've tried. They may share a spawn with the Shunpike Dryads.
I've had much better luck finding them west of The Sink stone, around the rim of the bay on both sides. Conveniently, there are a large number of Somphos Gulee in the area, and just south, as well for the second part of the quest.
