Note: just clicking the portal that pops after beast dies, contrary to popular belief, doesn't complete the quest.
Just tried it.
You don't need to be in kill team but you need to be in the RI when beast dies.

There you'll encounter Number Nine, which you need to target in order to update mission.

Number nine who you need to target "immediately" after exiting portal (next day won't work as I found to my regret)
