After patch 18.7, please note that "some" instruction discs have a different process. Once I get some confirmation that the process is change and how to tell the difference between instruction discs, I will update this guide. In the meanwhile, this is what Michizure posted on the official AO Forums:

Step 1: Jensen Personal Ore Extractor + Carbonrich Rock = Carbonrich Ore

Step 2: Isotope Separator + Carbonrich Ore = Pure Carbon Crystal

Step 3: Neutron Displacer + Pure Carbon Crystal = Program Crystal

Step 4: Photon Particle Emitter + Program Crystal = Prepared Program Crystal

Step 5: Prepared Program Crystal + Disc = Nano Crystal

Updated once for QL and twice for skill req.

I've updated this guide to correct the order of the tradeskill processes, and to add an introduction about the two processes.

When I follow the guide to make a nano crystal, at the step to combine the Crystal Reflection Pattern with the Progam Crystal to make the Prepared Program Crystal, it says Requires 4.25x the QL of the Program Crystal in Nano Programming.
But when I attempt to combine them, I get the message:
It is theoretically possible to combine "Crystal Reflection Pattern - Protection" with "Program Crystal". But you need at least 931 in ElectricalEngineering.
It is theoretically possible to combine "Crystal Reflection Pattern - Protection" with "Program Crystal". But you need at least 931 in FieldQuantumPhysics.

Thanks Goldcrown! I tried it myself with a QL 185 Program Crystal and it requires 832 EE and FQP; so a factor of 4.5. I've edited the guide to correct it

Adjusted wording under Carbonrich Rock: "The QL ideally should be equal or higher than the Instruction Disc's QL ..."
Added a note stating it is possible to use a Carbonrich Rock up to 4 QLs lower than Instruction Disc
Added a note stating it is possible to bump the QL of resulting Carbonrich Ore when you process the Carbonrich Rock. How high you can bump is based on the Carbonrich Rock QL (starting at ql 100), and the amount of ME skills the tradeskiller has.
