Quote Silirrion:
The video was prepared for the press tour attending a press tour for Age of Conan here in Oslo on Friday... it is official and it is footage from the alpha version of the new rendering engine.

It is looking fantastic and the guys here are doing a great job on it so we wanted people to be able to see the progress so far

Ok, I made a new thread here to stop me derailing this one about the really REALLY exciting graphics thingy :D

The graphics look wonderful, I'm just worried that there's been no mention of a new 'game' engine to go with this new graphics engine...
It would not be good to be playing a game with such a nice graphics engine but on the old laggy game engine...!

One slight correction is that I believe some of the sites have credited as being the Conan engine, which isn't the case, the updates to the new anarchy engine are being developed independently and its not the same engine tech.

An upgraded video rendering engine is a major piece of the puzzle needed to solve current lag issues. I expect that when it is in place, lag issues will be vastly reduced on every PC that is currently running the game. Some with newer video cards will get more 'flash' but everyone will get better fps and less lag.

Someone at the official forums did a "before/after" comparison with the Lush/Mutant Domain area that was featured in the video:
Before After

Pretty interesting, I think.

As it seems that, at the time of writing, the links to the videos (posted originally on AO forums) are in "error 404' (except the little YouTube one, of course), Athen Paladins made a page with a high-resolution photos gallery from the video.

http://www.athenpaladins.org/aonewengine/index.html

We had many requests from active members but also from old members, away from AO but in touch with us, who wanted to see something of the upcoming new engine.

Many old members state that, with a new engine, they would he happy to come back to AO. As usual, we'll do our best to welcome them back... as I'm sure all the Community will do!

I hope this temporary page will help. :)

(It can anyhow help anyone who wants pictures.)

40MB video is back...

We put a new link (set as main one) to the 40MB video on
http://www.athenpaladins.org/aonewengine/index.html

We'll try to maintain a list of all "alive" links as much as possible. (Top menu on the page)
