Oldtimer saying hello

AO is the main topic, but you can also talk about things like the latest console game you've played, web comics, movies, music, etc. as they pertain to your AO experience.

Oldtimer saying hello

Post by Zeridox » Thu Oct 11, 2012 5:51 pm

Hi everyone.
First of all, I'm so glad there are people here still that have a passion for Anarchy Online. The older I get and for every new game thats released I think of AO, and that there probably will never be a game that's close to its complexity and depth.

I started playing AO back in June, 2001, back then I was 14 years old and every single moment were special in the game. I haven't thought about AO in a very long time, and it's like a girlfriend from a long time ago, distant memories that gets stronger the more you think about them.

And AO was my first computer love.
Recently I have been thinking alot about the depth AO offered, even before Shadowlands it was huge, bigger than most games are today. We had to tediously grind our way to 200 in broken shores on missions. (back then there weren't groupmission we had to copy missionkeys in order to get the party in)

I have often thought about writing a blog, or something. Record all those memories, all those things that made AO special before it all gets lost. Because that time, the Everquest/UO/anarchy online era is extremely special and In all honesty I doubt games like that will ever be created. It doesn't cater to the casual crowd and it doesn't offer immediate rewards.

There's so many stories I could write.
All I wanted to do is say that I'm very proud of seeing the community still alive. And I'm going to try to find my way back before AO one day will die.
Logging on and exploring some of the really old LFG-hubs already have brought tears to my eyes.

Also I'm very happy to see some of the organisations for example Storm, Mercury Dragons amongst many more.
If there are any oldtimers that wanna help me pick up the ropes again, please PM me here or message Zeridox I'll be on that character for a while now before creating a new one and just socialise. I really hope to reconnect to some oldtimers but I'm anxious to meet new people aswell :)

Don't ask me why my forumname is Tomz, thats just a character I have.
10 years and 1 day ago I wrote my first post about leaving AO. I came back a year later but still. Creepy :P

Welcome back :)

I started not too long before you so I'm sure the war stories could be amusing to share. I hope you do enjoy coming back!
