Noob questions. . .continued

Post by csblackhawk » Sat Jun 14, 2008 6:58 am

Does armor, weapons, and equipment (e.g. level 1) level up with my character?

I see people saying try to get low lvl equipment.

TY again.

There are few items that can "level up" with you, like Newcommer aror, living cyber aromr (found in Subway or as quest reward), but mostly not. To level those up, de-equip them and r-click on it and it will gain level if you meet the requierment.

But fr the most part, you'll have to find higher ql items to upgrade your equipment. While shops sell stuff up to ql 150ish, unfortunatlly best equipment either drop from dynas or are tradeskilled.

Also, try and look for organization to join. Easiest and best way to do it is to simply ask players you teamed couple of times if their organization is recuiting (basicly players that you learned already have experience with game and they already know you). Biggest advantage from being in organization is that you can get advice on the spot and if you already teamed with them it means they have members in similar level range playing at similar times as you, which is just extra bonus.

Just keep in mind organizations have different rules and/or different playerbase. So if some behavior is ok in one, it doesn't mean it's look upon kindly in another (for example swearing, teasing, org raiding, etc..). So try to find organization that suits you, since many players loose track of game and simply think they should level to 200 and "beat" the game.

the armor does not level up automatically, you have to take it off and have it in your main inventory, then you right click on it, and it goes up a level.

use caution on the (Clan/Omni) newcomer armor, you can upgrade them above your level, but not a problem, just want to caution you on that.

The Living Cyber armor will not allow you to upgrade beyond the requirements like the newcomer armor does, so those are safe to just right click till they no longer upgrade for you. Then level some more and upgrade them again.

You can? The level lock to use them is one above the level lock to wear them, I thought.

yes it happened to me when I came back and started a new toon.
It went something like this.
I was upgrading to my level (let's say lvl6 I can not recall the actual level) I was not paying attention to the requirement, I saw QL8, and stopped the upgrade. not noticing the requirement, even tho it had been almost 4 years I was still used to the requirements being like str, agility, stamina, and able to wear beyond your lvl. . those type of requirements, so I had to wait a few levels before I could wear the piece I had just upgraded.

maybe I'll make a new toon and reconfirm this.

It is not like the Living Cyber Armor, where it will not let you upgrade beyond what your able to wear, I mean you may have more then enough Intelligence, but maybe not enough Psychic to wear.
for those that do not know what I mean, if you have a lot of intel and psychic, can upgrade the QL of the armor far beyond your own level

okay , this is what happen on the clan/omni newcomer armor upgrade, you can upgrade past your level, but only one level. I just tried it out, I could not get it past as it happened (or as how I thought it happened) before.

Most of the Froob Usable ones:
http://www.aofroobs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3525

The only significant Subscriber leveling item that I can think of is Tier armor.

IN GENERAL, though, most of the leveling items have limited use or there are some financial disincentives (read: Too expensive) to use them. For every item except the NCU Hacker Interface, I can think of at least one problem in either acquiring them or using them. (and the NCU Hacker Interface is Fixer Only anyway)

The AssaultRifle Weapons Basic Upgrade Kit can upgrade the E-Blade, but can it upgrade all versions of it? (e.g. ill-treated, cast off, etc)

I know it doesn't change the lvl. I heard it adds burst and full auto. . .

The E Blade cannot be upgraded with an Assault Rifle Weapons Upgrade kit. The E Blade is upgraded with the Melee Energy Weapons Basic Upgrade Kit.

If you are looking for the assault rifle, as I assume you are as you were a soldier, then I would guess you are looking for the Bolter Cannon.

However, with regards to your question on varying types, if you check the guide here: http://www.ao-universe.com/main.php?sit ... k=0&id=354 , then each weapon is linked to the types you can use.
