Free forever??

AO is the main topic, but you can also talk about things like the latest console game you've played, web comics, movies, music, etc. as they pertain to your AO experience.

Hello,

Unfortunately, as a player run and maintained fansite, we are not able to give you this information.

Although I am not certain whether Funcom will or will not disclose this information to you, the best route for your enquiry would probably be via one of their email addresses found here: AO Contact Support

Best wishes,

In december 2005 (or was it 2004?), when Fc started "froob" program, it was announced it should run for 1 year. Ever since they extended this offer for 1 year.

Unfortunartly info on it's status was also always revealed near end of year.

Every year, people warn of the impending "Froobpocalypse", when FunCom will supposedly stop the froob program. Every year, the Froob program is extended for one more year. Look for the announcement for extending the froob program sometime in October or November.

The froob program was probably only intended to last a year. But when you consider how much revenue it's brought FunCom, closing it down would be fairly lunatic.

so are they going to make classic AO free for life or are they goin to charge
i think they should keep it up so people could play the classic than expand with the noutum wars , shadowlands etc. classic like a taste of what it could be.

I don't know anything really, but I can almost guarantee that the fr00b program will last the entirety of AO's future.

If they close the froob program, they will be making a big financial mistake, first of all, most people play it to see if they like it, if they do, and if they can afford it, they will upgrade it to most or all expansion packs.

Also most people wont start playing, meaning, it doesn't look all that great when u just look at screen shots, you need to play it some first, then decide wheather you will upgrade for better equipment or not.

I personally think FC will keep the froob program for a life time, but maybe a few years before AO starts closing down.

Well, yes, as Stillian and OTdude said, it would be very absurd to close down froob program. But I really wish they make something more for a froob. Like more available items and maps. Because the froob program is really cut down. But, I guess, that's the way they make money.

Heh.

Thats true, only thing so far is Miy's armor. But luckily, they will soon have the hover bikes and hover boards which are froob friendly.

The hover vehicles are prolly gonna be the most popular thing coming to the froobs in the near future.

And since im a froob  .... i think i no what im getting :D

Really?
I didn't know the hover boards will be available for froobs also!
I haven't played for quite a while...
When will those be available?
