Hey im new to this game. Should I use the distribution IP option untill I learn the game?

I would suggest you use it, at least for the first 30-50 levels, by then you should be more familiar with your prof and the skills you specifically want to spend IP and what to save it for later on.

Automatical IP destribution only works until Level 20 by default.

Ah, never used it so wasn't aware of that, and there is nothing on the GUI that states that.
