Get the tent, even just a light waterproof one. Also get a decent backpack, as Snake said, and a sleeping mat. Sleeping mat's save lives, they go under your sleeping back and you lie on top of it, in your bag. They... save... lives, no joke. Get one. Can't remember the actual name, I dropped a Ski B...

Hiking or driving?

Hiking, I can list practically everything you'll need, but my experience is with high mountains and 50 mile stints, done hundreds of those, few large, long hikes, so take it with a grain of salt.

If you're driving: petrol :p

Nanomage have sort of... died out, over the course of the years. Now, nanoskill boosts are too easy, far too easy. For a beginner, I'd play Opifex or Solitus. If you're more in tune with the Engineer profession, I'd suggest Atrox. I had one, it rocked :P

I still play Guild War's personally, L8 Ranger/Elementalist. Not too bad a game, but I can see why it get's boring. Getting p****d off trying to rescue the Prince's fiancee, way out in Grawl-ville, atm.
