Servers are back online Smile

And we have guides to go with this 17.5 patch Wink
Dustbrigade outpost
New Penumbra quest line
Alappaa (new team instance in penumbra)
Shoulderpad upgrades
Galactic Jewel (5th arul gems)
Android NCU Injector
Frozen Yutto Remedies
Just please bear in mind info was gathered at test server, so actuall stuff on live might be bit different.
And with Galactic gems finnaly appearing in-game, we added Arul Bracers guides as well:
Bracelet of Arul Saba
Arul Saba (shop)

And with prolong downtime, we had time to add couple of other guides as well (unrelated to 17.5. patch):

Lol, yea, they need to focus on getting rid of the repeating "Welcome to AnarchyOnline" message, and the chat channel lags.

Greetings citizens of Rubi-Ka. We will be bringing the servers down in about 15 minutes (21:20 GMT / 17:20 EST) for emergency maintenance to address the zoning and login issues. We are sorry for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

To begin with, the servers were to be brought down at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday 07Aug2007 (EST). At 6:43 am (EST), I attempted to login. Servers were off-line at that time. Hence, the 48-hour clock began ticking down. Next, the Web site went down. Hmmm, no information for the HUGE client base. First sign of ill planning.

Next, on the day AO is supposed to be back up and well past the established 48 hour down time we find a message posted that they will be off line an additional 12 hours after seeing that the patch servers are on-line and do not have the resources to handle the many required resources as previously provided before the hardware / engine upgrades.

Ok, as a Network Engineer I would never have brought the entire game to its knees. Dimension by dimension would have been brought down and migrated to the new hardware and front end after proving it out in the Test Environment. This way only a minimal amount of damage could be caused to those not being able to play in one dimension and having the option to start a new character in another. Thus limiting the impact on the client and investors involved with Funcom. Second sign of ill planning.

Now that the patch servers are on-line with the most current patch, they are brought off-line again due to problems experienced in game due to the patch and due to the patch servers not being able to handle the required client request for the patch download. Third sign of ill planning.

Funcom, I hope this is not your way of promoting the Age of Conan game. As it surely has affected your clients trust and faith as well as your investor relations.

Yes folks, easier said than done. But still this is beyond limitations.

From Silirrion:
Quote:
Firstly thanks for your patience all, we know its frustrating, and trust me we would rather all was running smoothly as well!

The current issue seems to be caused when we ramped up the number of new machines supporting the dimensions (who would have though more processing power was a bad thing eh?) and that simply didn't show up in our scale testing when we tested the hardware.

Now, on the plus side the coders and the server team now believe they have located the problem in the network and are currently working on patching the relevant network drivers on the new machines so that we can be up as soon as possible.

The bad news is that will take a couple more hours, but I can assure you that we are all working as hard as we can to resolve this issue.
