Expected Fireworks Fizzle at NLC Last Sunday, June 6th, 29484 was the latest Newland City Council meeting. In preparation, I girded myself up with the latest Miiir Kevlar reinforced business suit and applied reactive armor to my Camera-bot. Over the last few months a few dissident Neutral Affiliates have disrupted NLC meetings with allegations that Minister of Security General "Agrestus" Wright of the Third Faction abused his authority and allowed neutral citizens to be tortured by the nefarious Omni-Reform. Repeatedly Mayor "Toog" King asked these groups to put forth a formal complaint to General Hekkat so that the matter could be investigated by the Newland Militia. Instead, these groups used the "open forum" atmosphere of previous meetings to disrupt and hijack the agenda so that they could put forth their vicious innuendos and slander against Minister Wright. Finally, Mayor King took a tough stance and they backed down and filed a complaint. This complaint was fully investigated by General Hekkat, who interviewed witnesses, reviewed open files provided by Omni-Pol. It was the conclusion of General Hekkat that Minister Wright acted well within Newland policies and guidelines in assisting Omni-Pol with their arrest of suspected criminals. All the correct paperwork and permits where filed with Newland by Omni-Pol. The General then went on to state that whatever happened to the suspect after he left Newland jurisdiction is not the providence of the Newland government. General Hekkat then went on to declare that this matter was now settled and closed to further discussion. This was met with some vocal outrage by the attending affiliates, but was nipped in the bud by Mayor King. These affiliates promised that this matter was not closed and they would be sure to remember how it was handled during the next election for Mayor and members of the City Council. In other news... The Newland City Council ratified and put into place its new codified City Charter and Foreign Affairs Document (read Here). No longer will non-neutral companies, organizations, or people be able to feign ignorance when it comes to their activities within Newland. Next, the Council went on to discuss a change in the tactics used by the Kyr'Ozch when attacking in mass on Rubi-Ka. Suggestions were asked for as to how Newland can better defend themselves in the event of an attack within the city proper. Suggestions can be sent via grid-mail to Mayor King or General Hekkat (feedback-events@anarchyonline.com). The meeting ended with the Mayor congratulating Minister Wright on these allegations being put to rest. Minister Wright and supporters from Third Faction were seen leaving Backyard 5 in a jovial mood. It is believed that they retired to Neuter's "R" Us to celebrate. And now you know!
