Patch - Patch 18.1 Preliminary Update Notes

Game Director Means posted the official list of news for the next major patch to be released. Big things include some social items, new vehicles, a new orbital apartment, instanced cities, resettable map navigation and various rebalancing and bug fixes.

- Added support for custom guis outside the 'Guis\Default' directory (we still don't give any customer support on third party GUIs though).


Will this affect our GUI?

shouldn't effect it too much, it probably means that they will port over more editable functionality like lockable tabbed windows and stat bars (I'm hoping anyway)

My guess would be that you could then install skins/mods like the AOU Mod or Dovve Tech without overwriting the standard AO files. So basically less trouble with future patches clashing, and generally more flexibility to switch between GUIs.

Yup, that's what I was thinking, & if that's actualy correct, then our GUI would need altering to reflect this.

There are a few changes needed to make GUIs work.
I compiled this unified diff of the changes I needed to make to NotumEdge4 so it would work on TestLive:

without looking at the unedited version I can't say for sure...

if I'm guessing right:

- = FC
+ = you

You're version has some of the login/charpref xml codes added in (side wing bars etc)

also noticed that pathing is now used and also references multiple gui paths


I'm not an XML expert tbh, I'm just good a winging code ;)

+ = Edited file for 18.1, with new stuff as changed by FC (new NCU options) and what's needed to make custom gui compatible (GUIName value in MainPrefs.xml, and proper case of root element in OptionPanel/Root.xml).
