Community - Funcom introduces tiered subscription system in

Postby Ukblizzard » Wed Jan 23, 2008 6:45 pm

Today we have announced the introduction of a tiered subscription system in Anarchy Online. Players can now enjoy a new subscription level that means you can access the areas and content in the award winning Shadowlands expansion pack for only 5 USD / EUR a month. Shadowlands offers new players engaging and exciting content for a low monthly cost.

Game Director Craig Morrison has been explaining a few of the ideas behind the move in the official press release. \"A lot of our free players have really wanted to explore more of Anarchy Online, without committing to a premium subscription. We therefore hope that many will take advantage of the option we are now giving them. With a great range of subscription choices, a brand new graphics engine and a constant update of fresh content we aim to deliver a great MMO experience for many years to come.\"

You can find an FAQ explaining the details of the new expansion offer here.

You can find the official press release in full here.

You can take advantage of the new offer now from your account page.

I came up with the term froobs. And if i do a deep enough search i think i can back up my statement.

Well... now i must come up with a new term.

Noobs..
Froobs...
Sloobs....
....
Boo.... no can't use that one, probably would get me a week ban from posting in our own forums... can't use lifer 'cause that implies a lifetime account.

Let's see...

Fubs!
Xoobs! (they got all eXpansions)
AOdicts!
Kans! (short for rubikans)
Ooobs... don't ask
Grubs! (check dictionary.com and see that i am right!)
Payoob!
Cashoob!
Kyr'Ozch! (yes now the players have become the aliens!)
Last but not least....

Shoobs! (Since all they do is say "Shhh!" at everyone who interrupts their AO gaming!)

Hmm...may come up with more, stay tuned!

I've been using SLoob for anyone with expansions, but I fear that SLoob will probably end up being the moniker for folks with just SL. :-P Which leaves the task of naming the full subscribers.

Of course, we are all "Rubi-Kaans".

"FunDers"
(Funding - Fun Distributed Energy Resource.)

"PoorTails"
(Poor Tails - Portals)

"UnFr00bidden"
(Un Froobed - UnForbidden from access to paid stuff.)

"UpTowns"
(Turn them noses up, and be proud... Because of you... We get another free year!)

"CoinOps"
(Coin, as in cash. - Ops, as in operatives.)

"Grid Runners"
(Since you have access, and quite possibly the only ones using the grids. As opposed to us, who still use the "Whom-Pah" things.)

Hmmm... if I was more than three days into the game, I might have more creative things to offer...

um... am I missing something here.... thought all account types could use the grid if your Comp Lit was high enough?

Not sure the limitations are the same.

I can't find one grid that I can use. (Comp Lit. 166), (Level 24)... All say "Must be level 50, 100, 150, 200...", and some say "Must be Clan/Omni", with-out numbers. Perhaps those would work below 50, 100, 150... But I have no reason or interest in joining any "Groups" at this moment. I am a rebel! One who has to walk all over this darn place!

Also, no grids in any of those towns, the ghost towns with the "Trick-Shops", that bring you unexpectedly back to town, one-way trip...

Still not sure what the purpose of those are. Perhaps, one day I will be addicted enough to shell-out some money to play, and it might make sense then. Once I am sure what I am paying for, besides more land to slow down my walking travels. Then I won't care about those who have to walk all over, before they realize there are maps, and improper named whoom-pahs. (Hope they fix that with the release of the new game engine!)

Ok, back on topic...
